Well, Death Row Records is Black owned no more. Another one bites the dust as the classic song by Queen goes. No matter what one thinks of Suge Knight and his business methods, in the 90's Death Row was one of the most powerful labels in the industry. It seemed for a while that the label could do no wrong business wise. The label released many classic hip hop albums including Dr. Dre's "The Chronic", Snoop Dogg's "Doggystyle" and Tupac's "All Eyes On Me." I believe if Suge had been more receptive to outside ideas and been more flexible in terms of the genres of music(among other things) perhaps Death Row would still be in Black owned hands. Oh well, I have hope that someone will come along with the necessary business acumen and fortitude to establish and create a record label that will go farther than Death Row. I believe it will happen in the near future.
