THE GREATEST SILENCE: RAPE IN THE CONGO DOCUMENTARY PREMIERS ON HBO TONIGHT: TAKE TIME OUT TO WATCH IT

Tonight all of us should take time out to watch the documentary The Greatest Silence: Rape in the Congo on HBO. It shows the horrifying ordeals that thousands women in the Congo have been forced to endure. Many of them have been brutally gang raped and tortured endlessly, some so badly that they need surgery after they have been violated. Unfortunately due to the lack of medical care in the Congo, many women are subjected to terrible pain due to infection and many have died.
Those of you that follow this blog know that I am a staunch opponent of violence towards women. My outrage over the Dunbar Village rape atrocity was what led me to blogging and I have dedicated myself to doing whatever I can to try and prevent such crimes from happening.
Please take the time to watch this documentary tonight. It will not be easy, in fact it will make your stomach churn as you listen to what these women have been through. We must do this however because it is time that we confront the evils that we are doing to ourselves and work to eliminate them.

I saw the documentary last night on HBO. I guess it was a re-run. I never imagined such hideous acts being imposed on anyone.

I could only drop to my knees and cry out to God to forgive me for having a narrow view of the affairs of the world.

Two things struck me about the documentary. The first was how complacent the Congolese government appears to be about this issue. Imagine they have assigned ONE officer to the role of taking care of women and children who are victims of crime. The government has provided no infrastructure for this unit to be successful in reducing the crimes against women and children. They did not even give the officer a vehicle!

Secondly, I was truly blessed by the courage of the women and their trust in God for deliverance.

I cannot tell you how devasted I was to see the fear in the eyes of those children.

Thank you for highlighting the plight of those women and children.

I did not see a link to donate to this particular cause, is there one?

Please advise.
