IN MEMORIAM & SPOTLIGHT: LOVIE YANCY: PIONEERING BLACK BUSINESSWOMAN AND FOUNDER OF FATBURGER RESTAURANT CHAIN

You know it gives me great joy to discover information that I didn't know previously. This is one of them. Here in the Los Angeles area, the name Fatburger is instantly recognizable as a place where you can get some damn good hamburgers. I mean ones that will send McDonald's, Burger King and Wendy's scrambling for cover. It's been a few years, but I remember the taste of a Fatburger and it lasts for years.

Anyway I did not know that the founder of the this great restaurant chain was a pioneering Black Businesswoman who started the first restaurant at a time when few Black men let alone Black women had successful businesses. Ms. Yancy recently passed away at the ripe age of 96.
She lived a full life indeed.

Thank you Ms. Yancy for all of the wonderful food that you have served all of us in the Los Angeles area over the years.
