This is a feature that will be on this blog on a regular basis where we will honor those who have departed and later on those that are still among us. For the first of many features is the passing of the legendary singer and songwriter, Clyde Otis on this past Tuesday. Otis may be best known for working with great artists like Brook Benton and Dinah Washington but his greatest success was that he was the first African-American A&R executive at a major record label, Mercury records.
