This past "Super Duper" Tuesday I voted in the Democratic primary. I voted for Senator Barack Obama and it gave me immense satisfaction to do so. Was it because he is Black? Partly. However that doesn't explain it fully because if I wanted to vote for someone because he/she is Black I would have voted for Alan Keyes. ( Yes he is still skulking around out there in election land) Or voted for Al Sharpton or Carol Moseley Braun which I did not.
So for me the issues are important irregardless of the candidate. Yet I wanted Obama to take a stand on the issues that mattered to me. He has on many and some he needs to expand upon. To be truthful it was between Obama and John Edwards for me and when Edwards dropped out it made the decision easier for me. I become more impressed with Obama everyday but I know he isn't perfect, no candidate is. He is in my view the best candidate out there. Go Obama!
